Hudson River Bank & Trust Foundation donates funds to Hospital for bedside ultrasound

2023-01-18T18:23:56+00:00

“Point of Care” Ultrasound Provides Rapid, Life‐Saving Care for Patients Hudson, New York –Thanks to a generous grant of $40,000 from the Hudson River Bank & Trust Foundation, Columbia Memorial Hospital’s emergency department physicians can now make rapid life‐ and limb‐saving diagnoses right at the bedside with “point of care” ultrasound technology. The introduction of “point of care” ultrasound technology onto the frontline of emergency medicine has had a tremendous positive impact on patient care. This new technology enables medical professionals to perform precision‐based procedures and treatments at the bedside, improving success and decreasing complications in central line placement, chest tube placement, regional anesthesia (nerve blocks), lumbar punctures, I.V. placement, biopsies, the localization and removal of foreign bodies, and more. Diagnosis of collapsed lung, an irregular heartbeat, fluid around the heart and abscesses can be confirmed at the bedside. Trauma teams can quickly decide on next steps – immediate surgery or transfer to a trauma center. “Point of care” ultrasound improves the speed and accuracy of diagnoses when minutes count. Quite simply, the funds provided by the Hudson River Bank & Trust Foundation will save lives.

2023-01-23T17:07:21+00:00

Event Supports Columbia Memorial Hospital & Kaaterskill Care (Hudson, NY)  New Orleans landed squarely in Hudson’s Club Helsinki on Saturday, February 4, when the Glen David Andrews Band straight from the Big Easy packed the dance floor and raised the roof at the 8th Annual Winter Blast to benefit Columbia Memorial Hospital and Kaaterskill Care Nursing & Rehab Center. The event was hosted by Denise de Diego and Kevin Delahanty, with AOW Associates, Inc., serving as presenting sponsor. Featured sponsors were A. Colarusso & Son, Inc., CDPHP, and Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP. Thanks to the 250 in attendance, approximately $115,000 was raised for upcoming projects for the hospital and the Kaaterskill facility. “This is for a great cause,” de Diego said of the evening’s festivities, in presenting Richard and Deborah Oliver of AOW Associates with a plaque honoring them for their contribution. The proceeds from last year’s Winter Blast had been dedicated to the upgrade of room furnishings and decor, renovations which “turned out beautifully,” said Kaaterskill’s Director of Nursing Regina Doebler. This time around, she said, the plan is to update Kaaterskill’s rehabilitation area by separating it from the long-term care [...]
