Auxiliary Generously Supports CMH

2023-01-05T16:22:21+00:00

The Columbia Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently donated $41,000 to the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation. The funds they raised will purchase important items from the hospital’s “wish list” of needed medical equipment, including wheelchairs. Members of the Auxiliary support Columbia Memorial in a variety of ways. Many volunteer at the hospital offering patients, visitors, and staff members a warm smile and a helping hand. Many fundraise tirelessly for their branches, and the dollars they raise make a difference in the hospital’s ability to offer the very best care. By Jesse DeGroodt Special to Hudson-Catskill Newspapers HUDSON — With a generous helping of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus sprinkled throughout the evening’s proceedings, Winter Blast brought a bit of razzle-dazzle into the doldrums of winter on Feb. 2. For the third straight year, Hudson’s Club Helsinki was the venue for the fundraiser that supports Columbia Memorial Hospital and Kaaterskill Care Skilled Nursing & Rehab. Billed as a “Night of Wonder,” the Milling Smith Family served as the evening’s hosts. “When we moved here five years ago,” said Patrick Milling Smith, “we met Patti Matheney Schrom, chairman of the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors.” Subsequently, he and his wife were given a tour of Columbia Memorial by Schrom. “We had our first child at the hospital 15 months ago, and we’ll be having our second there in June.” Milling Smith, a film, TV and theater producer who splits his time these days between Manhattan and Claverack, expressed the importance of giving back to the community. “I know that for us, being here is a much better experience for our children,” he said. Community Donations Enhance Hospital Employee Education Program

2023-01-23T16:45:22+00:00

(Hudson) Health care is constantly changing, and important advancements are made every day. New research, new technology, new equipment, new policies and procedures.  How do Columbia Memorial Hospital doctors and staff stay on top of the many changes? Two years ago, Columbia Memorial invested in an important tool: a web-based learning education system called HealthStream that keeps pace with the very latest information and health care advances. HealthStream gives Columbia Memorial doctors, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals access to the education they need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Information can be accessed from practically anywhere, anytime - even from home. Hospital President and CEO, Jane Ehrlich, recently turned to the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation Board of Directors to ask for a $5,000 grant to allow more hospital staff access to the HeatlhStream system. “Our standards are very high, and the world of health care is changing fast,” she said to the Foundation Board. “HealthStream technology keeps our hospital staff on top of the latest changes. Of course, that’s great for staff, but even more importantly, it’s great for our patients.” Hospital Foundation Board members were enthusiastic and approved the hospital’s $5,000 [...]
