(HUDSON, NY) Galvan Foundation is pleased to announce recipients of grantmaking round V. The Foundation committed a total of $191,500 to 19 groups providing services in the Hudson community reflecting the Foundation mission to improve the quality of life for all Hudson residents, especially those most vulnerable or economically disadvantaged. The foundation received 23 applications requesting just over $419,000.
Galvan Foundation grants are small grants that support local organizations providing innovative and vital services in one or more of the foundation’s areas of interest. Galvan grantees demonstrate innovation and a broad potential impact, leveraging small investments into significant and continuing projects.
This Round’s awards include:
Historic Preservation:
The Hendrick Hudson Chapter NSDAR – $25,000 General support to restore the exterior of the historic 1811 Robert Jenkins House.
Environment:
Columbia Land Conservancy – $11,300 General support to create the North Bay recreation and Natural Area in the City of Hudson.
Health and Services:
AIDS Council of Northeastern New York – $5,000 General support to provide cutting-edge HIV/AIDS prevention services in Columbia and Greene Counties, as well as support services for clients in the same region.
Columbia County Department of Health – $10,000 General support for implementing and sustaining a comprehensive Community Health Improvement Plan that addresses the problem of obesity.
Columbia Greene Hospital Foundation – $20,000 General support to continue the comprehensive art therapy program for child victims of sexual abuse and extreme neglect.
Reentry Columbia – $10,000 General Funding to support men and women released from prison during their transition back to life in Columbia County.
Women’s Health Project – $15,000 General support for a one-year continuation of the Women’s Health Project.
Education and the Arts:
Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts, Inc. – $5,000 General support for community-based Family Cirkus.
Columbia Greene Community College – $10,000 General support for students of all ages in achieving a college education.
Dollars for Scholars – $5,000 General support providing scholarships to students who are the first in their family to go to college.
HCSD Book Festival – $10,000 General support for the Hudson Children’s Book Festival, and the Hudson Reads Power Lunch Reading Mentorship Program.
Hudson Family Literacy – $15,000 General support to operate a year-round program that provides a broad spectrum of services to eligible families.
Hudson Music Festival – $5,000 General funding to support annual music festival.
Operation Unite – $15,000 General support to provide educational and cultural-arts based programs.
Staley B. Keith Social Justice Center – $5,000 General funding for programs with the mission to empower young black men.
Hudson School District – $1,500 Contribution for the Spanish exchange students.
Community:
Hudson Pride Foundation – $10,000 General support for the Hudson Pride Parade and youth programs.
Hudson is a Summer Festival – $3,700 General support to print the booklet advertising family summer programs in Hudson.
Flag Day Parade – $10,000 General support for the Flag Day Parade.
