HUDSON, N.Y., Oct. 20, 2025 — The Columbia Memorial Health (CMH) Foundation has appointed former CMH President and CEO Jay P. Cahalan chair of its Board of Trustees.

Cahalan has served on the CMH Foundation’s board since 2018 and remained a member after his retirement as hospital CEO in 2022. He succeeds James J. Armstrong as board chair, who served in the role for two years and was a member since 2011.

“We’re elated to welcome Jay back in such a prominent role with our organization,” said Dorothy Urschel, President and CEO of CMH. “His deep understanding of our team, community, and health care make him a perfect fit to help lead our Foundation forward in the coming years.”

In his new role, Cahalan will lead a team of newly appointed board officers, including past chair and community leader Anne Schomaker; vice chair Richard Byrne of Four Seasons Sotheby’s International Realty; Treasurer Glenn Lunde, vice president and senior relationship manager for commercial lending at TD Bank; and secretary Ryan Scott, owner of Pro Printers.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Columbia Memorial Health Foundation’s Board of Trustees and look forward to continuing the Foundation’s support of the CMH mission and its very talented health care professionals,” said Cahalan.

Cahalan currently serves as chair of Greene County Bancorp, Inc. Board of Directors. He previously served as president of the Greene County Rural Health Network and as a member of its board, as well.

“We extend our gratitude to James Armstrong for his leadership and 14-year commitment,” said CMH Foundation Executive Director Barbara Klassen. “James has been crucial to our growth and achievements during that time, and he has made many contributions to our success.”
